Does
pizza make you gain weight?
There
are many of us who love pizza. While some of us like to have it
occasionally there are others who eat it regularly. Each and every
person has a different body type and it reacts differently to
the food we eat. Some people do not tend to put on weight even
if they eat pizzas every day. But there are some of us who put
on weight even with a single slice of pizza occasionally. There
are certain things that should be considered while eating pizza.
You would not only avoid putting on those extra pounds but you
would also be able to eat it the healthier way.
Pizza is definitely high in calories and fat. Although the restaurants
use similar ingredients, the recipe that they use varies from
one another. A normal slice would add 200 to 300 calories to your
body. Many restaurants these days serve low calorie pizzas for
diet conscious people. Slight changes made to the recipe such
as roasted peppers and sundried tomatoes are less fattening than
ones that have sausages and pepperoni on them. If you go for an
extra topping of pepperoni or sausage you are sure to add extra
calories.
If you prefer eating pizza occasionally then there are chances
of not putting on weight. However, it also depends on how much
you eat and how many times you eat pizza. This would determine
the chances of you gaining weight. Pizzas are high in calorie
and if taken on a regular basis would result in unnecessary accumulation
of fat as well as calories. And to lose those calories you have
to increase your workout or restrict your regular diet. It is
important that you have control on the quantity of pizza that
you eat.
You can avoid putting on weight if you consider making a pizza
yourself. The base can be made up of whole grain dough with low
fat cheese. Add as many fresh vegetables as possible on the top
of the pizza and you are ready to eat the low calorie pizza. Avoid
red and fatty meat items and hold on to the extra cheese toppings.
A thin crust pizza is better than a Sicilian pie. One should always
remember that too much of anything is not good. Hence everything
should be done in moderation which might also include eating a
pizza - maybe once in a fortnight.
