Making healthy fast food choices is a lot easier than it has been in past times. Sit down restaurants and fast food restaurants alike are starting to cater towards people looking to stay healthy while on the go.

One of the most obvious selections you can make in a fast food setting is to choose a salad, but beware; all salads are not equal in nutrition. High calorie salad dressings, cheese, croutons, and extras like tortilla chips can increase the calorie count of any salad. Instead, make a healthier choice by requesting salad dressing on the side or a lower calorie dressing like Italian instead of ranch. While in the drive-through, ask for a menu so next time you roll through, you make an informed choice on which salads are the best for your health.

If you're not the type of person who eats salads, then the next choice would be to order foods that are not fried or battered in flour. For example, in some drive-through restaurants you can have a chicken breast sandwich instead of the battered and fried chicken sandwich. Hold the mayonnaise and cheese to automatically save on calories. Instead of French fries, some restaurants offer fruit. I know it's not French fries, but eating healthier will help you in the long run with longer life and a slimmer body.

Another consideration would be to skip the soda and instead order water. Carbonated water can be a happy alternative. It has the bubbles of a soda, but none of the calories of regular soda. This gives the satisfaction of a full fast food meal with nothing missing. There's nothing like natural water to help the body flush out all impurities and keep your body functioning at its optimal peak.

It seems that as time goes by fast food restaurants are going back to their old ways and are introducing larger sandwiches laden with bacon, cheese, and exotic buns. It seems the consumer has gone back to comfort foods over time and the restaurants are more than willing to provide to the masses.
