Obese People Weight loss
child in this world has a dream. Remember when you were a kid
and your teacher asked you what you wanted to be when you grew
up? For most people, being overweight or obese would not have
been on that list. Young people are used to doing what they want,
getting what they want, and living carefree lives. This includes
eating what they want and being as active as they want as well.
As the years pass, most of us have found ourselves as adults being
morbidly obese people. Weight loss is an issue for a large segment
of the US population and everyone is on a diet of some kind. It
has been found that most people in their lifetime will be overweight
What is morbidly obese? It is being 30% or more beyond your body
mass index. Body mass index is indicative of the portion of body
fat a person is carrying around. Children are becoming heavier
as the years go by, and more and more children are facing socially
scarring situations pertaining to weight. There used to be a time
when very few children were subjected to ridicule from being overweight
but there is an alarming trend of morbidly obese children who
will in the future become morbidly obese people and weight loss
will be an issue that they will have to conquer as well.
Where did the issue of being overweight come into fruition? One
would argue that it would begin at home. The statistics state
that most homes need two incomes to survive in this economy. Both
parents usually work outside the home leaving less time to plan
meals. Quick meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner are favored
over home-cooked meals due to time constraints in the home. Children
are often fed quick items like breakfast pockets, prepackaged
luncheon meals, and then a meal from a drive-through in the evening.
This is where the issue of calories and activity come into play.
In a time where there is no time to include family time, exercise
and eating well are just not priorities. In order to combat this
epidemic we must begin at home so that our children do not become
morbidly obese adults. Weight loss can begin by investing in ourselves
and taking the time to sit down and make a meal that is nutritious,
reduced in fat, and calories. The next plan of battle would be
to include an exercise program for the whole family. For parents,
take time before or after work to hit the gym and get in a workout.
Consider it to be one of those things on your list that must be
done five days a week just like everything else you pack into
your day. For the children, an afterschool activity such as karate,
basketball, baseball, football, or other activity will help keep
them active and socially involved and will make everyone well-rounded
individuals that are happy and healthy.
