Six Tastes Ayurveda Losing Weight

Nowadays, there are many people who are turning towards Ayurveda to lose weight since it is healthy and promotes healthy living by focusing on natural and balanced diets.

Ayurveda is the oldest medical system in the world and has its origins in India. Today, it is being practiced in many western countries. In Sanskrit, Ayurveda meant the science of life or the practice of longevity. According to Ayurvedic studies each one of us have a distinctive energy pattern that comprises of physical, mental and emotional characteristics and essentially there are three types of energy sources known as doshas. These doshas include vata dosha, an energy source that controls your body functions; pitta dosha, the energy source that controls your body's metabolism and kapha dosha, the energy source that controls your body growth. When these doshas are not in balance because of food or due to stress, it can lead to weight gain or obesity.

The six tastes of Ayurveda include sweet, salty, sour, bitter, pungent and astringent. All these six tastes form a part of your diet and are served in balanced quantities. These six tastes comprise of all the nutrients like proteins, minerals, carbohydrates, vitamins and fats. When your diet contains all these six tastes, your body will function in an efficient manner and ensure that the doshas are in balance.

According to Ayurvedic studies, it does not matter if you skip breakfast. However, if you are hungry then eating something light like fruit or cereals is alright. Lunch forms the largest meal of the day and the diet should consist of all the six tastes and be made from fresh and natural foods. Ensure that the food is served warm. It is suggested that you consume lunch around the stroke of noon since the body's digestive system works the best during this period. Likewise, your evening meal should be very light since your digestive system will not be very active. Avoid eating large meals during the evening hours as it can decrease your body's metabolism and circulation rate and at the same time slow down the digestive process. This can lead to accumulation of toxins in your body thereby leading to storage of fat and weight problems. So, make sure that your diet contains all the six tastes and in balanced quantities.
